The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), wishes to inform the General Public that, it has signed a Data Sharing Agreement with the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA),aimed at validating a joint Communiqué signed earlier in 2022, by the two institutions, pledging to collaborate and cooperate in terms of sharing data, accessing of NCRA Identity Verification Platform to authenticate identities of applicants for Licenses, Vehicle Registration and other SLRSA Services in the country.

The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday 27th October, 2023 at the Authority’s Board Room on Walpole Street, in Freetown.

The Director General, Mohamed Mubashir MASSAQUOI stated in the signing ceremony that, the NCRA is mandated to serve as the National Repository of data on personal details of citizens and foreign residents in the country, adding that the Authority is guided by law, as stipulated in Section 25 (e) of the NCR Act 2016,…‘’to provide information to the Minister responsible for Transport for the purpose of the grant of Driving Licenses and the permits to persons’’.

He also informed the meeting that the Agreement is an implementation of a Cabinet directive and Parliamentary ratification that tied access to social services to the National Identification Number (NIN), noting that with the use of the NIN, Government will now precisely account for its citizens and other nationals living in the country, including their respective activities.

In conclusion, Mr MASSAQUOI assured the general public that the NCRA is more than ready and willing to partner and collaborate with other interested institutions in the country who may want to use the identity verification platform for authenticating identities of their clients in the course of their respective operations.
