Eligibility for the eID CARD
All Applicants must have registered with NCRA and assigned a NIN before applying for an eID Card.
Categories of the Biometric (eID) Cards
- National Identity Cards for Sierra Leoneans only aged 12 and above.
- ECOWAS ID Card (on Demand for Sierra Leoneans)
- ECOWAS ID Card (on Demand for ECOWAS Member States Citizens)
- Non-National ID Card for Foreign Nationals Resident in Sierra Leone with the exemption of Diplomats with Waivers.
- A separate ID Card for children under 12 years to be produced in due course.

How to get your BIOMETRIC eID CARD?
Six (6) Clear Steps Involve:
Step 1. Visit any of the NCRA offices or other designated locations for your eID Card as listed below.
Step 2. Present your Registration details for search (eg. Your 2018 Voter ID Card, Phone Number used during registration, Date of Birth, etc). If everything is ok, you will be advised to proceed with payment thereafter.
Step 3. Make Payment according to the category of your requested ID Card. (Payments can be done through the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Outlet or through Afri money Mobile payment system at the same point/location where your eID Card is processed).
Step 4. You can now proceed to the Operator to process/finalise your Application.
Step 5. Keep track of all receipts and SMS/text message received during the application process
Step 6. You will receive another SMS/text Message notifying you to collect your eID Card within 72 hours at the same location where your ID was processed. Please remember to collect your eID Card.
Note: Foreign Nationals with Diplomatic Waivers are exempted from paying for the Biometric eID Cards, but registration to be assigned a NIN is mandatory.

- NCRA Office at 23B Off Kingharman Road, Freetown
- NCRA Office at Kennedy Street, Freetown
- NCRA Branch Office at 230 Lumley Road, Freetown (By the Round &About)
- NCRA Office at Waterloo along the Freetown High Way (Opposite the Police Station).
- NCRA Offices at the respective Regional Headquarter Towns of Bo, Kenema, Maknei and Port Loko.
- All NCRA District Offices across the country
- Corporate Service is available on request
However, more eID Card production centres/locations will be added to the list and communicated accordingly.
