NCRA DG HOLDS VIRTUAL MEETING WITH THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY ON THE VERIFICATION OF FARMERS

(FREETOWN, MONDAY 18 JANUARY 2021) – The Director-General of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), Mohamed Mubashir MASSAQUOI and some Senior Management Staff have held a virtual meeting with the Technical Team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on operational plans for conducting a nationwide biometric verification of farmers in the Country at the Authority’s Conference Room, on Walpole Street, Freetown.

The essence of the meeting was for the two institutions to discuss the readiness of the operational plan for the biometric verification of farmers across the country. The meeting was also for NCRA, which is the leading institution for identity management in Sierra Leone to provide technical support in verifying and authenticating the identity of farmers nationwide. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Kepifri Lakoh, Technical Assistant at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

The exercise upon completion, will help government to provide support for deserving farmers in the country.

In attendance at the meeting was the Deputy Director-General of NCRA, John Godswill Lavalie; the Director of Information Communication and Technology, Henry Swaray and his deputy, Ngagba Andrew Baimba; the Deputy-Director of Identity, Mohamed Konuwa; the Training and Capacity Manager, Roselyn Massaquoi and other senior staff.

In another development, the new European Union Technical Team Lead, Frank Nan and team have also paid a courtesy visit to the DG at the Authority’s headquarters. It was the first meeting of the EU Technical Team lead with the NCRA DG. Mr. Nan and team discussed with the DG the various technical support provided by the EU to the NCRA and the future plans of the Authority.

Frank Nan whose predecessor was Genene Bizuneh, is assigned to the NCRA for the implementation of the Integrated Civil Registration, Vital Statistics and Identity Management in Sierra Leone.
