  • What is integrated Civil RegistrationOpen or Close

    It is the process through which the government of Sierra Leone brings all Civil Registration under the mandate of a single registration office which obtains comprehensive knowledge of all citizens and foreign residents in Sierra Leone. This involves the gathering / collection of biometric and other information by the NCRA, who in turn issues appropriate citizenship documents, where applicable namely, Birth, Marriage, Divorce, death certificates and citizen and foreign resident Multi-purpose National Identity Cards.

    It is an Identity Card with or without Chip with a unique Identification number which can be used to vote in all elections, access social security, use as a document for identification and to access opportunities and privileges.

    Yes, the National Civil Registration Act 2016 says it is compulsory for all citizens and foreign residents living within the borders of Sierra Leone to register with the National Civil Registration Authority and obtain one or more of these documents Birth, Marriage, Divorce, Death Certificates, Multi-purpose Citizen and foreign resident Multi-purpose National Identity Cards where applicable.
